Acute Coronary Syndrome; Inflammation Mediators; Neutrophil Activation
My main research topic focuses on innate immune mechanisms in cardiovascular disease. Particularly, we investigate neutrophil effector function to understand formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in acute coronary syndrome and stable coronary artery disease. We aim for a translational approach to elucidate the role of high lipid levels on the balance between NET formation and degradation.
At the Anna Spiegel Research Center we have the infrastructure to conduct research in translational biomedicine applying the most advanced techniques in molecular biology, flow cytometry, cell and tissue culture, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
