Pulmonological services according to the latest findings
The Clinical Department of Pulmonology was newly founded in 1992 as part of the restructuring of the Faculty of Medicine and the General Hospital of the City of Vienna.
The task of the Clinical Department of Pulmonology is, on the one hand, patient care at the General Hospital of the City of Vienna and, on the other hand, comprehensive teaching and research as an organisational unit of the Medical University of Vienna. The Clinical Department of Pulmonology sees itself as a specialised department for internal medicine, where specialists are also trained for the additional subject of pulmonology. Due to the numerous concomitant diseases associated with lung diseases, a profound general internal medicine knowledge is the basis of patient care. For the Clinical Department of Pulmonology, the necessary networking with almost all other clinical departments of the General Hospital also applies in particular.
Our goal is to offer pulmonological services according to the latest findings, to conduct medical research and to train the next generations of doctors in the best possible way.
